A Personal Prayer to Ymir

Ymir, ancient progenitor of existence, I offer my prayer with respect and reverence, and reconginise that all life was created and emerged from your primordial sacrifice.

Before there were trees and mountains, oceans and sky, you lived deep within Ginnungagap, the wide open void filled with possibility and chaos, where magic and mystery collided and swirled and the seeds of creation were planted.

You are the giver of life and the source of vitality, of all magic we owe to your creation.
Your flesh nourishes the crops that sustain our bodies, your bones shelter us from the winds while they look over us as we rest, ships travel on your lifeblood to take us to new lands and enable community, and from the clouds, you look upon the wonder that your sacrifice has given.

May I treasure and cherish the sacred ingredients that give life and respect the complex fabric of existence. Bless me, Aurgelmir, with the wisdom to recognise the gift you have given and the humility to acknowledge the unity of all beings.

As I walk upon the earth, may I tread softly, appreciating the beauty along the way. I will endeavour to be a carer of creation, tending to the world with love and reverence, and appreciating the beauty and abundance of the cosmos.
